Supplier Quality Engineer

JOB PURPOSE

The purpose of this role is to monitor and improve the supplier non-Conformity rate, by developing suppliers through feeding back non-conformances, new product introduction, first article inspection results and audits.

 

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • New Supplier Assessments/Re-Assessments
  • Supplier Performance & Improvement
  • Support purchasing with supplier performance reviews
  • Deployment of Inspection & Test Plans with suppliers
  • Conduct NPI with Key Suppliers
  • Carry out Supplier First Article Inspection Reports
  • Improve non-conformance rate by driving supplier improvements through Supplier Corrective and preventive actions
  • Identify and drive improvements through Engineering changes

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 Essential

  • Degree/HNC/HND Mechanical/Electrical/Production Engineering
  • Lead Auditor ISO9001 or equivalent

 

Desirable       

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a Electro/Mechanical Environment
  • New product Introduction
  • ISO9001
  • ISO14001
  • Problem solving techniques – 5Why/8D/Fishbone
  • Experience of working to deliver a good quality product
  • Ability to prioritise and manage conflicting workloads
  • Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional team

  • Ability to generate technical reports
  • Conduct internal and external audits including reporting
  • Demonstrate a base knowledge to understand complex drawings & schematics
  • Ability to understand problems and devise correction plans
  • A hands on approach to problem solving
  • Ability to co-ordinate projects
  • Strong relationship builder
  • Works with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Exhibit clear written and verbal communication skills
  • A proven track record of reduction in non-conformity rates through supplier improvement

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is an office-based role, where time will be spent on the shop floor with occasional lifting requirements, investigating problems and visiting suppliers to resolve issues.
