To provide support to Purchasing and supply chain manager and work with the team with regards to technical aspect of product purchasing.  Liaise with the engineering, drawing office and shop floor to provide a stronger cross functional customer service.  Assist in the delivery of cost reduction projects. Support Purchasing Manager in the analysis of trends and patterns in supplier quality



  • Manage the Invitation To tender process, conduct negotiations, carry out supplier assessments, approval and maintenance
  • Through effective relationship building, ensure that supplier and internal stakeholders are kept informed and updated on production and delivery requirements
  • Create and negotiate supplier agreements that maximise returns, focusing on inventory levels, lead time, quality, material cost, and delivery performance
  • Build cross functional team relationships across the business to support knowledge around key commodities relating to quality and managing risk
  • Support the delivery of strategic sourcing strategies
  • Manage the commercial relationship with suppliers in line with sourcing strategies
  • Manage material cost reduction activities
  • To manage and maintain the company MRP/ERP system with current material prices, suppliers etc
  • To work with Quality to investigate cause of non-conforming products and to ensure appropriate corrective action is implemented to prevent reoccurrence.
  • To advise on the acceptability of a project before progressing to the next phase of the acquisition process
  • Complete and place Non-PSS orders with suppliers
  • To negotiate new supply contracts and changes to existing supply contracts to meet Strategic Purchasing Objectives
  • Ensure product is delivered on time
  • Liaising with other departments to ensure projects are completed
  • React to changes in demand
  • Work closely with planning to ensure stock levels are correct




  • MCIPS qualified or working towards (or equivalent experience)

  • Able to read engineering drawings and interpret product test specifications
