The product manager plays a key role in Product Life Cycle Process within the confines of the functional organization structure from the initial ideas for new product developments up to the commercialization. It all starts from a deep understanding of our customer needs and the solutions offered by the competition. This position will work closely with Engineering in defining the product, Operations on product configuration and with the Sales and Support team to bring products to market that meet customer expectations and allow Nikon to achieve its growth targets.

Product concerned are XT V range of electronics X-ray inspection systems and related software and options.

As an application specialist, the Product Manager will also support sales opportunities (mainly in UK and Europe) with demos and benchmarks in case local knowledge is insufficient.



  • Work with the engineering team to define and follow-up the product development roadmap from initial concept up to product release.
    • Segment the market based on common application requirements
    • Voice-of-the-customer to understand customer’s basic requirements and drivers for change
    • Strengths and weaknesses analysis of alternative (competitive) solutions
    • Select Nikon Metrology target markets based upon customer and competitive analysis
    • Create business case for new product development
    • Determine product specifications based on the above analysis
    • At each development milestone check whether development is in line with initial specifications. If specifications can’t be met, redirect development based on market priorities.
    • Assist with prototype and preseries testing to do product sign-off
    • Fix pricelist configurations that align with sales/market needs. Liaise with engineering and operations to implement these configurations.
  • Develop presentation material, brochures and web site content to promote the Nikon electronics X-ray inspection offering for target applications in close cooperation with the communications team.
    • Develop key messages
    • Support creation of screen shots, application pictures, movies and demonstrations for exhibitions.
    • Find leads for application cases
  • Maintain supportive sales material like competitive analysis, description of target markets incl. current customer pains and drivers for change, datasheets and price lists
  • Train application engineers and sales on the use and positioning of the product

As an application specialist, the Product Manager will also support sales opportunities (mainly in UK and Europe) with demos and benchmarks in case local knowledge is insufficient.

Although the above responsibilities focus on electronics X-ray inspection, it is possible that also tasks related to industrial X-ray and CT inspection will be assigned to you.




  • Bachelor or Master degree in engineering or science
  • Driving license.
  • Knowledge and experience of electronics industry.
  • Knowledge and experience of X-ray or CT technology/systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of the X-ray market in electronics.
  • Proven experience with customer interaction.
  • Experience in a similar position
