In general, the absolute positional accuracy of robots is dependent on many degrading phenomena, such as play in robot joints, warm-up and variable loading. For this reason, robots are still uncommon in industrial machining applications where the precision of placement for drilling, fettling and milling is of utmost importance.

Metris offers the innovative Adaptive Robot Control solution that upgrades industrial robots to 0,1mm absolute positioning accuracy. At the core of this solution is a Metris K-Series Optical CMM, which dynamically tracks the position of the part and the robot tool. The metrology data being acquired drives a closed feedback loop that continuously adapts the positioning of the robot tool.
