A number of applications exist within the aerospace industry for the reverse engineering of components. Typically this process would be required where modifications need to be made to older aircraft, specifically where no detailed dimensional information exists for the required component. The need to capture total surface geometry makes a Metris laser scanner an ideal tool for this process.
The complete solution includes a laser scanner for data capture and Focus Reverse Engineering software for the processing of the high accuracy high density 3D point cloud and recreation of the CAD model.

|
CMM based scanning using the LC50 or XC50 Cross Scanner provides mass point cloud data collection with maximum accuracy, where tolerance demands are lower, or for parts with a high degree of surface complexity hand-held scanning with ModelMaker D is ideal.
